I am interested in making additional money through part-time work. I have been applying on line with various employers in the area. A possibility is one of the many "work at home" jobs that are offered. In particular, using my computer. I keep seeing opportunities to make money taking surveys. What are your thoughts on this particular offer and the many others that are presented through the "work at home" positions?

I have three sons, two are summer working able at 16 and 13 and my father is fairly able bodied and retireing this spring. I am trying to think of a home based business we can start that will use these three as employees.

My husband and I are getting a divorce. We have 1 child. We are splitting custody and child expenses 50/50. (No child support) So, then how do we do our taxes in the future? Who claims the child? If we should alternate every other year, then for example, daycare expense- The person that claims the child writes off the total amount spent on daycare or just the half that he/she paid. If it’s the whole amount, then would the ex-spouses 1/2 that he/she paid considered income?

I really sujest that you seek the advice of a tax attorney rather than a CPA on this one; asthis goes a little further than just taxes.

On the durface though, it seems simply that you can each take turns claiming the child on a semi annual basis. It would be in your best interest to get this in writing in your divorce decree and spell out the terms of the agreement. On the years where the other party is claiming the child but you are still payaing 50% of the expenses, then there is not much you can do about that. You don’t want to report it as income to the other party, as this will reduce the tax benefits of your child, and inturn do the same to you. In which case, then why go through this thing at all?

I am thinking about using affiliate marketing on my website, where I’m selling an e-book. I don’t know much about it, but was wondering if anyone’s used it before and what things I should consider before going ahead with it.

Find out if there is an affiliate program related to the book you want to sell. If it’s an ebook, you’ll most likely find it on clickbank. If it’s a hard copy, you could join any merchant that offers this book and has an affiliate or partner program (amazon, barnes&nobles,…).
Then you place your referral link on your website, each time someone clicks on your link and buys, you get a commission.

The hardest thing will be to get traffic to your site, starting out I would definitely recommend article marketing as this doesn’t cost you anything. You write articles related to the product you’re selling and then link them to your website/blog with the review.

You can start with affiliate marketing for free, so apart from the time and effort you have to put in, there really is nothing to lose.

sorry, but you will probably not make $5000 selling stuff from a discount store like that. the problem is, most people go on ebay for just a couple of things.
1. looking for something rare/obscure/hard to find
2. looking for something cheap/used

selling people stuff that is only worth 5 dollars is going to be hard. and since you could only mark it up (sell it for more than it cost you) a couple of dollars, it would take many sales to make $5000. Honestly, starting a lemonade stand would make more sense. Since you are 13, most likely within the next year you will be able to get a job getting minimum wage and you might be able to approach $5000.

How does my friend start making money off of her photography?

My friend is an amazing photographer and wants to start making money off of her work. How does she go about doing this? Should she get them published first? Should she copyright them? And if so, how? Where can she put up her photos so that companies can look to buy them?

In order for her to make her photo’s art she needs to print them and sign them. If a photograph is signed by the photographer it then becomes art. I live in Las Vegas NV and local photographers will take landscape photographs print and sign them and then sell them to local hobby and tourist shops. See if they will sell your art.

I specialize as an engagement and wedding photographer in Las Vegas NV, and after the shoots I will print and sign my favorite photo from their event and give it to them as art.

There are also local contests that she can enter to win. Red Rock Canyon has an annual contest that photographers can submit entry’s. Have her do some research of local contests and photography clubs/groups. Local groups in my area will have monthly or every other month contests. The winner has their art placed in one of the local photo studios for the whole month.

Also I highly recommend getting a website that has a fine art section where prints can be purchased.

Why doesn’t Yahoo ban the IP address of work at home scams?

Posters and answerers are in cahoots. I’ve been keeping track and it started with ‘Ways 14 year old girl can make money?’

Many phrases in different postings of questions/answers are the same, along with the way the amount of money is typed (1100$) The names are similar, usually having an initial and they all started Y!/A around June of this year. Oh, and the catergories are really way off.

I’ve reported a bunch and sometimes they’re gone in an instant; other times they stay or only the answerer is gone.

Wait till you read my questions if they try to mess with me now!

I under withheld in my regular full time job and owe alot in taxes…i have a part time home based business that i spent alot more on than i made, can i use deductions to offset the revenue as well as lower my gross income from my regular job? I read u can only use the deductions up to whatever the revenue was for the home based business?

But you have to have detailed records.
If something is shared with the household, like phone, or internet service, or computer, Keep detailed logs.
Same for personal car used for business.
Get the IRS publication on in home office.

Space designated for office should be a room of its own.
deducat rent, heat, elect based on the ratio of Sq feet in office to sq feet in house.

Anything bought for making money and used in the office is deductible:
stamps, paper, toner (if not shared), chairs, shipping material, cost of business checking, safe, all telephone exculsive to business.
Professional magazines keep in office.
Pro rate property tax or rent.
